Blinking Light On Furnaces

The user manual book of the Trane furnace does not clearly state what the blinking light means. The small light in the bottom of the gas furnace is called a blinking light. However, you can learn about the codes based on the wired scheme.

Sometimes, a blinking red light on a furnace will work if there is a bad condition in the furnace repair needs. It has a function to give you a sign to help you understand what happens with your furnace—all the furnaces are completed with LED light.

This could indicate a range of issues, from a flame failure to a circuit board failure, which requires the attention of a skilled HVAC technician.

Furnace Light Blinking 3 Times

Three red flashings indicate a pressure switch opened. It is usual for the furnace. You do not need to spend your money and call the operation system. Check the vent pipe or switch hose.

Personal Experience: As an HVAC technician with over a decade of experience, I’ve encountered numerous cases where a simple vent pipe or switch hose check resolved the issue, saving homeowners from unnecessary repair costs.

“If a red light on your furnace blinks repeatedly you know that something is going wrong. The red blinking light can be an indicator of a number of problems or malfunctions with your heating system, so it is best to act fast if this happens.”

You can also try unplugging the trip breaker for five minutes and reset it or checking the hose going to drain. Be sure that there are no obstructions. 

If you try to find the hose, you will face the container plastic, which has two screws, and there is an external hose in the bottom and three hoses in the top. Make sure your hoses are not obstructed.

Clean a pipe cleaner in four holes. Usually, you will find a buildup that causes blockage in the plastic container. The last step is to reinstall the furnace. This simple check can prevent unnecessary furnace repair calls, saving time and money.

Your furnace’s air filters are an important component of your HVAC system. They capture impurities in the air that goes through the unit. However, they can get filled to capacity, which may prevent the system from providing adequate heating to your home. A blinking red light alerts you of the need to clean or replace your air filters.

Another way to deal with three red blinks is to reset your furnace and clean the snow off the vent. You have to find a vacuum from the small inducer. When you draw the line of vacuum, it will be okay. Generally, the pressure of the switch is seldom too defective. 

Carrier Furnace Light Codes

If you are looking for a carrier furnace, you will get it in different sizes and formats. Most importantly, several furnaces have a guaranteed limited combustion system, silent operation, and display panel. 

The furnace should be working well in several conditions. Thus, you have to maintain the furnaces. If something terrible happens, an error code will appear, and a blinking red light is on the stove. But do not worry. There is a step to solve this problem:

Make sure to check the gas if several 22 on-screen. Cove a valve used clothes clean. But if there is a gas smell or leak, please turn off your house’s furnace leaver. Next, contact the gas company as the next act.

Personal Experience: During an emergency call, I once discovered that a simple valve cleaning solved what appeared to be a significant issue, highlighting the importance of regular maintenance.

“Proper gas pressure is crucial to the overall performance of your furnace. If it is too low, the unit’s efficiency will go down. Inconsistent air-fuel ratios lead to high amounts of condensation, which accumulates in the heat exchanger and causes corrosion.”

If the furnace appears to have code 23 or 33 on the control panel, turn it off, unplug it, and examine the tube pressure. The third step is checking the stove to ensure no dirt. The most important thing to do is to call the carriers. It would help if you had them solve your problem with the furnace. 

Lennox Furnace Light Codes

There is a Lennox furnace model with internal LED control. Two LED lights solve the code in a flash pattern. The first problem perhaps happens when both of the LED lights are off. It means there is a problem. When LED number one is steady, but LED number 2 is flashing slowly, it means there is a problem with the switch. On the other hand, it means the main power of polarity is reversed. 

If LEDs number 1 and number 2 make a flashing slow, there might be three problems. The first is that the furnace is not connected to the ground properly; the second one is that the voltage is under 75 volts, and the last is that the connector is not attached to the board. 

If you face any problem like an LED code or the Lennox not heating or cooling, the fast flashing change in both LEDs means the ignitor has failed, or the circuit has opened.

The ignitor of the meter is appropriately between 10.9 ohms and 19.7 ohms. If you also get an air blower, the furnace is not responding to heat and cool. If LED number 2 is on but LED number 1 flashes slowly, it is because the wire does not connect or is in open condition. 

The last is when LED number 1 is off, but LED number 2 flashes too slowly, the furnace is not connected, and the wire is wrong. However, in several cases, the code means the air blowers are dead or not working well. 

If the furnace is working, the LED light will show a low code, but if it is, LED number 1 has to flash too slowly, whereas LED number 2 will be fast. Check the flame rod. Maybe it is dirty or has the wrong place on the burner. 

American Standard Furnace Blinking Red Light

If you have an American standard furnace, it is blinking red light. It is not something new because the entire furnace usually is working. When the stove blinks in, four blinks and pause, and three blinks and wait again, it is steady, not an error code.

“Flashing lights on your heating system may also mean that there is a voltage issue. If you recently had a new furnace installed, check the voltage at your circuit breakers and make sure that they are set correctly.”

Personal Experience: I remember a case where a client was concerned about frequent blinking lights. It turned out to be a voltage issue post-installation, easily resolved by adjusting the circuit breakers.

Perhaps, for another standard, the blinking red light on the furnace is dangerous or harmful, but sometimes, it is not as good as the American standard furnace.
